Businesses, 47 million euros in debt in May alone - Tax Appeal: Pay off your debts, or you will be fined
Businesses have increased the value of unpaid tax liabilities on time. The Tax Administration reports that during May 2025, an increase in unpaid tax liabilities was recorded in the amount of 4.7 billion lek or 47 million euros.
In order to inform taxpayers and avoid unnecessary coercive measures, the Tax Administration calls on taxpayers to settle their tax obligations within the legal deadlines.
According to this institution, failure to pay tax obligations on time, according to the amended law "On Tax Procedures in the Republic of Albania", burdens businesses, not only with fines and late payment interest, but also with coercive measures, which make it difficult to develop your economic activity.
Also, the Tax Administration informs that until the law on tax debt forgiveness enters into force, as part of the fiscal peace package, taxpayers are obliged to repay tax liabilities to avoid austerity measures.
Meanwhile, a few days ago, the tax authorities notified all taxpayers who do not fulfill all tax obligations on time that security measures will be imposed on their assets and all collection procedures will be implemented by force.
Taxpayers are urged not to alienate their assets to avoid these obligations.
Likewise, a call was made to any entity that enters into asset purchase and sale transactions to ensure that the assets subject to the transaction do not belong to the debtor taxpayers, as an act signed in bad faith between the parties with the aim of avoiding obligations to the Tax Administration will be considered invalid.
