Tender announced for the revitalization of the former Blloku - What benefits this area most from the project?
The former Block, limited to the main streets such as “Ibrahim Rrugova”, “Pjetër Bogdani”, “Brigada VIII” and “Sami Frashëri” was once an area reserved for the nomenclature of the communist regime, but today, it is one of the most dynamic areas in the capital. And as such, it will undergo an urban revitalization. Therefore, a tender has been announced in public procurement with the object of rehabilitation interventions in the block that is limited by the aforementioned streets, within the framework of the Walk 21 project.
Referring to the tender documents, the limit fund for the revitalization of the former Blloku area will be 246 million 600 thousand lek excluding VAT, which will be financed from the revenues of the Municipality of Tirana for 2024.
The main functions of the area are, starting as one of the social and entertainment centers, with the highest number of bars, nightclubs, restaurants, etc., to residential centers as one of the most sought-after areas due to its location, and ending with the function as a commercial area such as boutiques and business offices.
But what does this area benefit from urban revitalization?
Referring to the project, in the former Block, pedestrian spaces will be increased, which will become a priority, bicycle lanes will be added, greenery will be added, and thus there will be less vehicle traffic, which will lead to a minimization of traffic.
This project aims to increase the quality of life in the Former Block by balancing the social, commercial and residential functions of the area with a modern and sustainable infrastructure. On the streets that will be revitalized, parking will be eliminated, giving way to greenery and returning to a pedestrian zone where pedestrians will be a priority. The time for the revitalization of the area is expected to be 6 months.
