Growing professional education for students and teachers - What are the results of the last 12 months?
In an effort to strengthen and modernize vocational education in the country, the national program "Secondary Vocational Education" has marked a successful year for 2024. With a budget increased to 3.66 billion lek, from 3.53 billion initially foreseen, investments in this sector have brought expected results across the country. According to official data, in the last 12 months, 93% of the approved budget and 89% of the amended plan have been realized.
Around 14,944 students attended vocational schools in 29 public schools, exceeding the target of 14,700 students. Meanwhile, scholarships were awarded to 4,515 students, most of whom come from disadvantaged groups, girls choosing vocational education, students with special needs, as well as the Roma and Egyptian communities.
In support of inclusion, 3,270 students from disadvantaged groups have benefited from free textbooks, significantly exceeding the initial planning. In terms of teaching content and standardization, 81 curriculum frameworks and teaching materials have been developed, as well as 48 occupational and qualification standards, aiming to increase quality and better match education with the needs of the labor market.
For the first time, 188 teachers were trained and certified, while in a 30-day training on "Basics of Didactics in VET", 38 out of 46 participating teachers were successfully certified.
In addition, 40 vocational education providers have been supported to ensure quality and successfully complete the national self-assessment process, with the assistance of the National Agency for VET. Strengthening business links and workplace practices remains one of the main pillars of this program, with the aim of bringing young people closer to the real labor market.
