Albanian Diaspora 2025: Around 2.25 million abroad, most of working age!

The Chamber of Diaspora Business has published new data that sheds light on the economic and demographic potential of Albanians outside the country's borders. According to official statistics for 2025, the new Albanian diaspora is estimated to include around 2,256,346 individuals — approximately 49% of the total Albanian citizens.
Of this number, 1,177,529 are male and 1,078,817 are female. Age profiling shows a largely economically active community: 18% are 0–14 years old, 77% are 15–64 years old and only 5% are over 65. The Chamber of Commerce emphasizes that this structure represents a young and specialized human capital, which can contribute to economic development through remittances, professional expertise and collaborative networks.
Remittances continue to be an important source, with values exceeding 1 billion euros per year, but the Chamber underlines that the greatest benefits can be achieved by integrating diaspora expertise and investments into the country's development strategies. For the Chamber of Commerce, the challenge remains to improve institutional cooperation and create mechanisms that facilitate the transfer of knowledge and capital from the diaspora to the local economy.
