Anti-informality action against bakeries - Controls in 172 entities, 31 of them

The tax administration has launched an action on the ground focused on bakeries in order to raise awareness and fulfill tax obligations.

Referring to the official announcement, the Department of Field Verification and Coordination in the General Directorate of Taxes has inspected the activities of bakeries in the capital for 3 days in a row.

During the inspections, a total of 172 bakeries were checked, of which; 10 subjects were penalized for undeclared employees; 16 subjects were penalized for not issuing the invoice; 3 entities have been penalized for non-disclosure of the price list; 1 subject was penalized for not renewing the electronic fiscalization certificate; 1 subject was penalized for not having the goods invoice.

The Tax Administration informs that it will continue to make businesses aware through inspection and awareness activities aiming at their self-fulfillment and the creation of a fair and equal climate for all commercial subjects.

Meanwhile, this sector has also been placed under monitoring by the Competition Authority regarding the price of bread production and trading after the entry into force of decision no. 72 dated 15.04.2024 of the Energy Regulatory Authority (ERE).

Regarding this situation, OSHEE clarified that nothing has changed since November 1.

"As a result, any price increase by bakery entities is unfair and abusive", OSHEE emphasizes. According to data from the company, there are currently around 1600-1700 bakeries registered as such. Meanwhile, the peak hour energy price has been applied to bakeries since 2016 and there have never been any complaints about this fee.
