Tirana Airport is "drowned" by passengers on weekends - Regional
Albania is increasingly becoming a favorite tourist destination in the Mediterranean, where Tirana International Airport has become one of the most important air transport gateways in the region. In the first days of August, this airport recorded another record, over 51,000 passengers in one day. Meanwhile, the weekend has brought increased traffic. During July of this year, around 1.3 million passengers flew through TIA, an increase of almost 120 thousand passengers more than in July 2024.

Investments in infrastructure, the increase in airlines, and the growth of Albania's international reputation are among the main factors that have influenced the increase in traffic. Even from Montenegro, interest in traveling from this airport is increasing, even though there are 2 airports in Podgorica and Tivat. Referring to statistics, there are over 6.4 million passengers in the period January-July 2025, compared to 5,969,937 who flew in the same period a year ago from Rinas. At these rates, the year 2025 could end as the most successful year so far in the history of the airport, placing Tirana on the important map of air traffic in Southeast Europe.

Over 5 million euros have been invested in Tirana International Airport, while TIA was certified earlier this year at Level 3-Optimization, by the Airport Carbon Accreditation program, the only institutionally approved program run by Airports Council International. This level marks important achievements on the path to reducing carbon emissions.
