€99.3 million for Albania, investment begins/ EU supports budget and infrastructure projects
The European Commission has allocated funds to Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia as part of the Western Balkans Growth Plan. These payments are made in different phases and are linked to the progress of reforms that the countries in the region undertake to align with European Union standards.
Albania benefits from 99.3 million euros for the first tranche, of which 46.2 million euros will be paid directly to the state budget, while the rest will finance strategic projects through the Western Balkans Investment Framework.
Montenegro and North Macedonia will also receive new tranches: 8.1 million euros and 16 million euros, respectively, divided between national budgets and infrastructure investments.
Projects to be supported include areas such as sustainable transport, clean energy, digitalization and human capital development. The funds will be managed in cooperation with regional partners and international financial institutions.
The aim of this financial package is to accelerate economic growth in the Western Balkans and bring the countries of the region closer to EU integration. The Growth Plan will cover the period until 2027 and is expected to provide €2 billion in grants and €4 billion in loans to the six Western Balkan countries.
