88 billion lek consumer loans in one year - BoA: Increased by 14.9%. After

The year 2024 has closed with record values for consumer credit. According to the latest data from the Bank of Albania, this loan was calculated at 88 billion lek in December last year. The figures speak of an increase of 14.9% of the total compared to 2023.

But, how is this credit distributed by region?

Since the majority of the population is located in Tirana, most of the loans are concentrated in this region. According to the latest data from the Bank of Albania, the value of loans in the Tirana region reaches 48 billion lek, while in other cities of the country it does not even reach 10 billion.

Unlike the total loan amount that is dominated by Durrës, Fier or Vlora, after Tirana, in the case of consumer loans, Tirana is always followed by Elbasan and Shkodra for the high demand. Specifically, consumer loans in Elbasan are estimated at 7.9 billion lek, while in Shkodra, 7.8 billion lek. Meanwhile, the amount of loans taken together in Kukës, Dibër, Gjirokastër and Berat, results in 16 billion lek.

Despite the fact that the demand for home loans continues to be higher than that for consumer credit, the latter has continued to grow at a steady pace in all regions of the country.

Consumer credit is used to cover the personal needs of individuals for the purchase of professional equipment, home furniture, education, health, vacations, food, car purchases, and others.
