19 fires reported in the last 24 hours – AKMC informs on the current

The National Civil Protection Agency announces that 19 fires have been reported in the last 24 hours, of which 4 are still active.

These fire outbreaks have been identified in the municipalities of: Dibër, Bulqizë, Mat, Rrogozhinë, Vorë, Tirana, Vlorë, Kuçovë, Krujë, Librazhd, Përrenjas, Malësi e Madhe and Korçë, and several outbreaks currently remain active.

In the Dibër district, in the place called "Lake of Flowers", part of the Lura National Park, work has continued to extinguish the fire that broke out in a forest area with pine trees and meadows.

Despite all the work done by the operational forces on the ground, the fire was not brought under control, as it had a large spread. The steep terrain and the wind helped the fire spread. As a result, an area of about 150 ha was burned. Today, 100 forces from the Armed Forces joined the forces.

The fire has been reactivated in the area called "Mali i Peladhisë", Zerqan administrative unit, Bulqizë municipality, developing towards "Maja e Vlashes". The fire has developed into two fires, aided by high temperatures and wind.

The operation to isolate the fire in the village of Arras, Arras administrative unit, Dibër municipality also continues. The forces are working to avoid danger to homes, as the wind is helping the flames spread towards the village of Shumbat, Slovo administrative unit.

In the Fier region, in the village of Drenova, the administrative unit of Qendër Dukas, the municipality of Mallakastër, there was a reactivation of the fire that had broken out in an area of bushes and thorns.

During the night, the fire has advanced deeper into the forest massif, taking on an even wider scope. Today, the operation began with 13 forces from the Mallakastër MZSH, 15 municipal forces and 30 forces from the Armed Forces.

The fires were mainly recorded in areas with bushes and vegetation, where as a result more than 292 hectares of land, over 1000 plum, cherry and olive trees were burned. 36 firefighting vehicles and 394 operational forces were engaged in the fire extinguishing operations.

The Armed Forces also participated in yesterday's operations with 130 personnel and 1 Helicopter. Based on the forecasts of the Institute of Geosciences, light rainfall is expected today in the regions of Shkodër, Kukës, Dibër, Elbasan, Berat and Gjirokastër, while localized rainfall is expected in the other regions.

Regarding forest fires, a "High" risk level is expected today in the regions of Lezhë, Tirana, Elbasan, Fier, Berat and Gjirokastër, and a "Moderate" risk level in all other regions. The entire civil protection system continues to monitor the situation and is fully prepared for rapid intervention.

AKMC invites citizens to avoid starting fires in open areas, and to immediately report any fires they find to the fire services. Even the slightest carelessness can have serious consequences for the environment, property and people's lives, AKMC emphasizes.
