16,301 vehicles fail technical inspection - DPSHTRR: Technical defects, a risk

The technical inspection of vehicles remains one of the most important elements for road safety. According to data published by the General Directorate of Road Transport Services, during the first two months of January-February 2026, a significant number of 16,301 vehicles failed to pass the technical inspection.

The figures show that the most widespread problem is related to the exhaust system, which accounts for about 34.5% of the cases found. Defects in this system not only affect the proper functioning of the vehicle, but also have a direct impact on environmental pollution and air quality.

Another high percentage, around 30%, is related to visual and functional deficiencies of the vehicles. Meanwhile, around 20% of the vehicles have resulted in problems with the steering and suspension systems. These are essential components for the stability of the vehicle, especially when driving at speed or on difficult road conditions.

Also, 15.5% of vehicles failed the inspection due to problems in the braking system. Brakes are considered among the most critical elements for road safety, as any defect in this system significantly increases the risk of accidents.

The DPSHTRR appeals to all drivers to regularly check the technical condition of their vehicles. Regular vehicle maintenance is a responsibility for personal safety and the safety of all road users.
