1.4 billion lek for Tirana-Durrës/ ARRSH prepares the tender for the furnishing and urban requalification of the highway

The urban development and requalification of the Tirana - Durrës highway, from the Kamza turn to the Limuthi bridge, is expected to cost around 1.4 billion lekë. The Albanian Road Authority has prepared the tender that includes phases I, II and III, where work is currently underway to expand this important road axis.
Meanwhile, within this month, the new lanes that have been built in the segment that starts after the Kamza turn and ends at the Rinas overpass are expected to be opened for vehicle traffic. Earlier representatives of the ARRSH have stated that this depends a lot on the weather because cold weather does not favor the last remaining asphalt layer, but the expectations are that there will be no obstacles. The opening for vehicle traffic will be done before the contractual deadline, as one of them has a deadline until May and the other has a deadline in September of this year.
Meanwhile, the third contract was signed during the last quarter of 2025, but it is intended to have concrete results within the year. This phase includes the construction of the junction connecting the Laknas road with the highway expansion project, while the tender documents specified that the area where this project is required to be implemented is an area with high industrial development and recently also with significant urban development.
Upon completion, the highway will have 8 lanes in total, 4 in each direction, while the permitted speed will range from 90 -140 km per hour.
