How is the state-owned company improving sterilization? - Services are added,

The government is redesigning the sterilization service in public hospitals, not only by moving it from the concession model launched in 2015 to a 100% state-owned operator, but also by expanding the package of services that are considered part of the integrated sterilization process.

In the 2015 concession contract, the service scope focused mainly on four components, which included personalized sets of sterile surgical instruments, sterile single-use materials in surgical rooms, treatment of biohazardous waste, and disinfection of surgical rooms.

Meanwhile, at the state operator OSHIS, several new elements are added to the list of services that make the process broader. For the first time, the administration of the Central Sterilization Station at the Mother Teresa University Hospital Center is foreseen, as well as the management of the reprocessing and sterilization cycles of reusable instruments and materials. The decision also details sterilization in terms of technology, including steam and low-temperature sterilization, and not just the supply of ready-made sets.

Another essential change is the logistics of the room, as OSHIS also includes the supply of sterile room clothing and similar disposable materials, as well as expanding the scope of disinfection from surgical rooms to the premises.

A separate innovation is the digitalization of service management, tracking, and reporting, which aims for greater traceability of the process and responds to the government's objectives for the digitalization of all sectors.
