14 thousand new vehicles in February - Car imports, which dominates the Albanian market?
The domestic vehicle market is reflecting a steady growth in both the number and diversity of vehicles circulating on Albanian roads. According to official data from the General Directorate of Road Transport Services, during February 2026, an increasingly widespread presence of vehicles coming from some of the most powerful manufacturing countries in the world was observed.
In this market panorama, the Republic of Korea occupies the leading position, accounting for 24.8% of the total vehicles registered for this period. China ranks second with 15.9%, while Germany and Italy continue to hold a significant share in the market, with 13.7% and 12.8%, respectively.
On the other hand, the United States of America represents 7.6% of registered assets, while Switzerland contributes 7.2%, thus completing the map of an increasingly diverse market.
Beyond diversity, according to data from the General Directorate of Road Transport Services, a significant increase in the number of vehicles registered for the first time is noted, with 14,201 vehicles registered during February 2026, a figure that represents an increase of 72% compared to 2019. This significant increase indicates the interest of citizens in purchasing new or more modern vehicles.
According to the General Directorate of Road Transport Services, of the total number of registered vehicles, 11,578 are cars, accounting for 81.5% of the total. This means that personal vehicles continue to dominate the market, reflecting daily needs for mobility and convenience.
These developments testify to an expanding and continuously modernizing automotive market.
