Kaja Kallas visits the region - EU Representative meets party leaders in Kosovo

The High Representative of the European Union, Kaja Kallas, has begun her tour of the Western Balkans. The focus of this visit is to deepen dialogue with the countries of the region and normalize relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, has begun her tour of the Western Balkans. As part of the regional visit, she will hold meetings with leaders of political parties and civil society organizations in Kosovo.
Meanwhile, it has been announced that Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani will not be present during Kallas's tour, as she is on an official visit to Switzerland. Last week, Osmani had a meeting in Tirana with the EU representative, within the framework of the European Political Community Summit.
Kaja Kallas' visit is considered an important step in deepening the dialogue between the EU and Kosovo, with a focus on support for the rule of law, political dialogue and regional cooperation on the path towards European integration.
According to the bloc, dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina on the normalization of relations is "a necessity to move forward" in that direction.
During her visit to Belgrade, the chief diplomat met with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, where they discussed key geopolitical issues, including the security situation in the region, Serbia's European path, and the dialogue with Kosovo.
Vučić stressed that “Serbia is committed to constructive dialogue with EU mediation as a way to resolve open issues, and that the protection of Serbs in Kosovo is our absolute priority.” According to him, the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities is not only an obligation they have agreed upon, but also a prerequisite for further progress in the dialogue.
