What did we buy from India in April? Fuels represent more than half of the total value
Foreign trade figures for April this year confirm a configuration of the main partners in terms of both imports and exports. If we analyze the ten main import partners, compared to the same month last year, the figures show that Bulgaria has dropped out of the ranking to be replaced by India.
Meanwhile, in April 2025, among the main partners with whom Albania had the largest increase in imports is India with 153%, compared to the same month in 2024. Total imports with this country for April were estimated at 1.3 billion lek or about 13 million euros.
If we analyze the historical performance since January 2005, the data shows that in the last three years there has been a significant increase in imports with this country. The value of April of this year is the second highest, after the same month of 2023, if we analyze the fourth month in years.
The increase in Albanian imports from India may come for several reasons, related to global economic developments, trade and the needs of the domestic market.
But what have we imported from India?
Fuels hold the largest share with a value of 726 million lek, representing more than half of the total value of imports from this country. Ceramic products, coffee, tea and spices follow in the ranking, with a weight of 19%.
