Trade deficit in Kosovo increases by 7.7%, or 536.8 million euros in August

Data from Kosovo's foreign trade in goods show a trade deficit of 7.7% in August 2025, compared to the same period a year earlier, or 536.8 million euros. Exports cover imports by 12.4%.

Exports of goods in August were worth 76.2 million euros, or 8.7% less on an annual basis. While imports were worth 613.1 million euros, with an increase of 5.3%.

According to data on the main export groups: 18% are base metals and articles thereof; 13.8% are mineral products; 13.8% are prepared foods, beverages and tobacco; 10.9% are plastics, rubber and articles thereof.

Meanwhile, according to data on the main import groups: 15.5% are mineral products; 13.1% are prepared foods, beverages and tobacco; 12.1% are means of transport; 11.4% are machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment.

Kosovo's exports to EU countries reached 23.4 million euros, or about 30.7% of the total, with a decrease of 2.6%. The main partners for the export of goods to the EU were: Germany (11.4%), the Netherlands (2.4%), Italy (2.1), etc.

Kosovo's imports from EU countries were around 261.7 million euros, or 42.7% of the total, with an increase of 7.7%. The most numerous imports were from Germany (14%), Italy (4.2%), Poland (3.9%), etc.

Kosovo's exports to CEFTA countries reached 38.2 million euros, or 50.1% of the total, with a decrease of (-12.6%). The main export partners from CEFTA countries were: Albania (22.4%), North Macedonia (13%), Serbia (7.7%), Montenegro (5.2%),

Imports from CEFTA countries reached 77.9 million euros, or 12.7% of the total, with an increase of 4.5%. The countries with the highest share in imports were: North Macedonia (4.1%), Albania (3.6%), Serbia (3.0%).
