The first 52 mln euros from EU funds - RMV must fulfill certain conditions to benefit
North Macedonia, like other Western Balkan countries, is expected to receive the first funds of financial support from the European Union.
In order to earn the first 52 million euros for the implementation of the reform agenda for the period 2024-2027, the country must fulfill certain conditions, adopt the appropriate laws and form its implementation and monitoring structures.
EU Ambassador Mikalis Rokas told the parliament of North Macedonia that the growth plan provides progressive access to the EU's common market and greater certainty for a more reliable path towards the union.
"The challenges that await us are the establishment of national structures for implementation, monitoring and reporting. Knowing the weak administrative capacities of the state, cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of European Affairs and the Ministry of Finance will be of key importance to achieve the necessary results. Having the right systems for control and follow-up of the implementation of the reform agenda is already taken into account in the growth plan, its rules and the system that the country should establish".
The Assembly must approve the ratification of the instrument and the borrowing agreement so that it can request the financing for the reforms, as well as the implementation and monitoring structures.
President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, who joined the debate, said that the cooperation of the relevant ministry with the Assembly is very important, and in the implementation of the agenda, care must be taken for the business sector, for the green agenda.
The agenda includes concrete steps for reforms in public administration, green transition, digitization, rule of law, human resources and support for the economy.
