Kosovo has imported about 53 thousand tons of meat from different countries of the world in 2024. The value of imports reached 117 million euros, 11 million more than in 2023.
In the last year, Kosovo imported 53 thousand tons of meat from different countries of the world. According to the official data of Kosovo Customs, the value of meat import for 2024 was over 117 million euros.
Customs lists meat as the 12th most imported product of the year.
Compared to 2023, the amount of import of meat products has not changed much, but the value has increased by more than 10 million euros. This increase is likely to have come as a result of inflation in the countries of origin.
Kosovo Customs informs that in 2023, 52 thousand tons of meat were imported, with a value of 106 million euros, about 11 million less than last year. While in 2017, the amount of meat import was about 40 million kilograms.
Meanwhile, the average price of beef in 2024 has reached a record of growth in the last 10 years in Kosovo, at 8.98 euros per kilogram in November of this year. This is an increase of 2 euros and 50 cents per kilogram or 38.46 percent more expensive compared to 2014.
The price of meat in some stores in the country has reached up to 10 euros per kilogram.
