How many payments do Albanians make through bank applications? - BSH: Decrease by 10% in November, but in 11 months the record of 2023 was exceeded
Fewer individuals used banking apps to conduct transactions in November. Official data from the Bank of Albania show that the number of home banking operations has suffered another deep drop in November 2024, where 10% fewer transactions were recorded than in the previous month. For this year, this turns out to be the biggest drop in transactions made over the Internet.
As a result of the decrease in the number, the value of the actions is also reported lower. Specifically, the total amount of banking operations with home banking has decreased by 12%. The greater drop in value, rather than number, also indicates that amounts paid through banking applications were smaller in November.
In 11 months, a total of 8.4 million transactions were carried out, which have a total value of 2.1 billion ALL.
Despite the fact that the month of November had a negative balance in terms of the number and value of transactions carried out with home banking, the year 2024 closes with higher figures of the use of banking applications by citizens than the year 2023. Official statistics show that in 11 month there is an excess of 9.7% of the number of transactions calculated with 2023.
Home banking refers to making transactions from home through banking applications, to make money transfers, pay taxes, electricity, water, phone bills, police fines, credit card payments and more, without the need of presentation in physical branches of banks.
