Infrastructure, works continue on the Shirokë-Zogaj road - Prime Minister Rama: Important investment for the development of tourism
The Shirokë-Zogaj road is one of the most important projects for regional development, which is being realized in Shkodër. Prime Minister Rama has shared pictures of the works from the work site, where he emphasizes that this investment is important for the development of tourism in the area and the creation of a new strategic link for Shkodra, as the capital of the region.
So far, the first 3 km of the road have been opened, while the construction of the bypass in the center of Zogaj village has also been completed.
Meanwhile, the tender that was won by an Albanian company was opened in May 2024, and the interventions are part of the project for Infrastructure and Tourism in Albania, which is financed by the European Union through technical assistance and investment grants in a total amount of 40 million euros, as well as from the complementary sovereign loan granted by the EBRD to the government of Albania.
The Shirokë-Zogaj road has registered a significant increase in traffic users, especially during the summer season, due to local and foreign tourists, enjoying the natural comfort along Shkodra Lake and the various tourist attractions of this environmentally protected area, for for these reasons, the rehabilitation of this road has become a priority issue.
