Fires, 150 billion USD in economic damage in Hollywood - Many famous

The massive fires in California are expected to cause economic damage of up to 150 billion dollars, according to preliminary data. Over 1,000 homes were destroyed in the area and around 130,000 people were evacuated, including many Hollywood stars.

The massive wildfires sweeping through California are expected to cost an estimated $135 billion to $150 billion in economic damages, according to updated preliminary figures from private forecaster AccuEather Inc.

"These fast-moving, wind-driven fires have created one of the costliest disasters in modern U.S. history," said AccuWeather's chief meteorologist. According to analysts, the total damage from this disaster could reach almost 4% of the annual Gross Domestic Product of the state of California.

At least ten people have died, according to preliminary reports, while officials expect the death toll to rise. More than 1,000 structures, mostly houses, have been destroyed by the flames so far and about 130,000 people have been evacuated in the metropolitan area.

The fires have burned the homes of several celebrities, including Billy Crystal, Mandy Moore and Paris Hilton.

Jamie Lee Curtis, James Woods, Mark Hamill and Maria Shriver were among those who publicly described being forced to evacuate as wildfires engulfed some of the world's most luxurious real estate.

The largest eruption consumed about 5,000 acres in the Pacific Palisades area, which is home to movie, television and music stars. In this area, the average home is worth $4.5 million.

Among the celebrities whose properties were damaged were Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester and her husband Adam Brody, two-time Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins, as well as John Goodman, Miles Teller and Anna Faris.
