Croatia, 44 million euros for green transition - Funds, part of a 111 million euro package that includes the judicial system
Within the framework of the European Economic Area Grants, Croatia will benefit from 21.6 million euros from the Green Transition Program and 22 million euros from the Green and Blue Business Innovation Program until 2028.
In total, the country has been allocated 111 million euros for investments in the green transition, local development, innovation in green and blue business, as well as for improving the judicial system.
In the new programming period, the Financial Mechanism will finance projects worth EUR 21.6 million through the Green Transition Programme, which aims to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable society. In addition, EUR 33 million will be invested through the Local Development Programme, including education projects in less developed regions.
Local official sources emphasized that this cooperation reflects solidarity and supports equality of opportunity and living standards. According to them, such partnerships strengthen public institutions, support vulnerable communities, foster innovation, and create sustainable connections between researchers, local communities, and civil society.
In the previous funding period, projects worth over 103 million euros were implemented in Croatia, including the establishment of four regional science centers and the construction of a large geothermal well in Bjelovar.
The Energy and Climate Change Program aimed at a cleaner environment, strengthening energy security and sustainability, reducing costs in public institutions and buildings, and increasing awareness of energy efficiency.
