Greece attracts the rich - 1,200 foreign millionaires expected to move in by

Around 1,200 more foreign millionaires are expected to move to Greece by 2025, according to estimates by Henley & Partners, which advises wealthy clients on immigration issues. According to these forecasts, individuals with a total wealth of 7.7 billion euros will choose Greece this year, bringing the total growth of millionaires in the country to 24% over the past decade.

According to data, 142,000 millionaires worldwide are expected to emigrate this year alone (more than any other year), with the consulting firm announcing a historic wave of wealth migration that is reshaping the global financial landscape.

These flows of millionaires bring numerous benefits to the countries that welcome them. They increase tax revenues, as individuals with great wealth contribute significantly to the state budget. About 15% of millionaires who emigrate are entrepreneurs, who often open new businesses in the host country. In addition, they positively affect the stock market through investments. Their purchasing power creates thousands of well-paid jobs, revitalizing the local economy.

According to Henley & Partners, countries like Greece and Italy are benefiting as the UK becomes less attractive to the wealthy, with around 16,500 millionaires leaving this year. However, countries like France (-800), Spain (-500) and Germany (-400) will also see an exodus of wealthy people from their territories for the first time.

It is worth noting that 9 of the top 10 destinations attracting millionaires in 2025, including Greece, operate investment immigration programs, such as the Golden Visa.

Also, the Greek government is planning a law to improve the attractiveness of the tax regime for non-residents in Greece, with the aim of attracting further foreign investors to the country.

According to reports, a regulation will be submitted to parliament that will allow spouses who marry after one of them has joined the program to be included in the same regime. It will also eliminate taxes on donations and inheritance.

With these new rules, it is estimated that the Greek program will become even more attractive, while countries like Italy already offer similar platforms with these provisions.
