Greece, 250 euro aid for pensioners/ Will be given every November to other groups in need
The new 250 euro aid in Greece will be given every November to pensioners and other social groups in need.
The payment will be made without requiring an application from the beneficiary and concerns three main categories. The first category includes pensioners with low income due to old age, who must have reached the age of 65. In the second category, for single families, or with one person, the annual taxable income must not exceed 14,000 euros, while the property must not exceed 200,000 euros. In the third category, for married people, or couples with a cohabitation agreement, the income limit is set at 26,000 euros and the property at 300,000 euros.
Labor experts emphasize that for disabled pensioners, age, income, or property criteria do not apply. Also, beneficiaries without income criteria are uninsured elderly people, who number approximately 35,000, as well as those receiving social solidarity benefits. The benefit also covers absolute disability pensioners, public pensioners receiving sickness or disability benefits, as well as foster parents of disabled children. In total, this amounts to approximately 1.4 million vulnerable and low-income citizens.
To receive the benefit in November 2025, beneficiaries must have reached the age of 65 by December 2024 and be retired as of September 2024 with a regular, non-temporary pension.
Annual family income is calculated based on any rental income, while also taking into account any income of retirees who continue to work.
