Trump cancels second attack on Venezuela - "We are cooperating well. Oil

US President Donald Trump said on Friday he had called off a second series of planned strikes on Venezuela after the South American country cooperated. Trump said the US and Venezuela were working well together, adding that at least $100 billion would be invested by "major oil" companies in Venezuela. He added, however, that all oil tankers in Venezuela "will remain in place for security reasons."

Donald Trump announced on Thursday that Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado will be in Washington next week and said he was looking forward to meeting her, adding that it would be a great honor if she were to award him the Nobel Peace Prize.

The US president, who once again decided that it is not possible to hold elections in Venezuela at this time, had declared after the arrest of Nicolas Maduro by the Americans that Maria Corina Machado is not qualified to take over the leadership of the country.

As he had argued, Machado "enjoys neither support nor respect within her country."

Despite the Venezuelan opposition leader's efforts to express her friendship towards him, Donald Trump has yet to come to terms with the fact that she, and not he, was chosen for the Nobel Peace Prize, which Trump has long coveted.
