"You must be careful": Trump threatens Cuba, imposes ban on hydrocarbon imports from Venezuela
For years, Cuba has functioned as a security services ally for Venezuela. In exchange, the communist-ruled country benefited from cash and hydrocarbons.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump recommends a deal with Cuba “before it’s too late.” Venezuela ships about 35,000 containers of hydrocarbons a day to the island.
The response from Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez was blunt: “Cuba enjoys the right to import from any country that offers it, without interference from private US policies.” According to him, Cuba has never been compensated in material or monetary form for security services.
Trump further added that the US attack eliminated a good portion of the Cuban murderers and traffickers. Venezuela is now safer with America's military power, he emphasized.
The Cuban-American Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, himself expressed that he would be concerned if he were in Cuba's country.
