Tourism brought a record of 5.72 billion euros in 2025/ Foreigners spent about 2 times more than Albanians abroad

According to data from the Bank of Albania, tourism revenues for 2025 reached a new record, registering close to 5.72 billion euros, while Albanians spent around 3.04 billion euros on travel abroad.
Foreigners' spending in Albania reached 5.72 billion euros in 2025, the highest level ever recorded in the balance of payments series. Compared to 2024, when these revenues were 4.99 billion euros, the increase is about 731.6 million euros, or 14.7%, confirming that tourism continues to remain one of the strongest sources of foreign exchange inflows into the economy.
Albanians' spending abroad has also increased, but at a slower pace. In 2025, it reached 3.04 billion euros, up from 2.70 billion euros in 2024, an increase of about 339 million euros, or 12.6%. This shows that demand for travel abroad remains strong, but the growth in income from foreign visitors has been faster than the growth in Albanians' spending in foreign markets.
As a result, the net tourism balance rose to 2.68 billion euros in 2025, from 2.29 billion euros a year earlier. The improvement is about 392.6 million euros, or 17.1%, which constitutes another historical record. This means that not only is Albania attracting more income from foreign tourists, but it is also widening the positive difference between what is earned from tourist arrivals and what is spent by Albanians abroad.
In 2025, foreigners' spending was about 2 times higher than Albanian tourists' spending abroad, a more favorable ratio than in 2024. This translates into more foreign currency entering the economy, more visitor-based consumption, and an increasingly larger role of tourism in macroeconomic balances.
In the long term, the expansion is even stronger. Compared to 2008, income from foreign spending has increased almost 4.9 times, while the net balance has expanded nearly 24 times.
