How much does "dining out" cost each family/ Albanians spend 636 million euros a year on hotels and restaurants
An Albanian family spends an average of 7 thousand lek or 70 euros per month on dining out or hotel stays, according to the latest data on the structure of family spending. This amount represents 7.6% of the total monthly budget, which averages 93 thousand lek.
In annual calculations, each family in Albania spends about 84,800 lek, or about 850 euros, on hotels and restaurants. Considering that there are about 755 thousand families in the country, it turns out that Albanians spend a total of 63.6 billion lek per year, or about 636 million euros, on consumption in restaurants and hotels.
This figure shows a significant increase in the weight of the “Restaurants and hotels” group in Albanian family expenses, compared to a few years ago when it fluctuated around 4-5%. The trend seems to be related to the increase in prices in the gastronomy and tourism sector, but also to changes in lifestyle, where more and more families choose to dine out or spend weekends in hotels within the country.
Economists estimate that these expenditures constitute a clear indicator of increased domestic consumption, but warn that rising prices in the services sector are directly affecting family budgets.
However, for tourism and related businesses, this development represents an important source of income. The year 2025 is expected to further strengthen this trend, with increased demand for hotel and gastronomic services, especially in coastal areas and tourist cities.
