Visitors to accommodation facilities, increase by 9.7%/ Italy continues to remain the main source of tourists

During February, around 156 thousand visitors stayed in accommodation structures in Albania, marking an increase of 9.7% compared to the same period last year. Regarding the breakdown by type, it results that the number of resident visitors increased by 10.6%, while non-resident visitors marked an increase of 9.1%. For this month, most tourists preferred non-coastal areas, mainly due to the more favorable climatic conditions in the mountainous areas during the winter season.
Regarding the regional distribution, the central region is the most visited, with around 52 thousand tourists accommodated in structures. The northern region ranks second with around 21 thousand tourists, while the south turns out to have been the least visited region during this period. Regarding overnight stays, they increased by 3.6% in total. Analyzing by type of visitor, it results that resident visitors have realized more overnight stays than non-residents. Specifically, for residents there is an increase of 5.3%, while for non-residents the increase is 2.7%.
If we examine the origin of foreign visitors, Italy is the main country from which most tourists come, accounting for about 30% of the total for the month of February. In second place is Kosovo with 15%, while in third place are tourists from the United Kingdom with 7%. Visitors from Germany and France account for 5% and 4% respectively, while the remaining part, of 39%, belongs to visitors from other countries.
Meanwhile, hotel occupancy rates reached 16.7%, up from 16% in February 2025, reflecting a slight increase in demand in the accommodation sector. This positive trend suggests a stable start to the year for tourism in the country, despite the fact that it is an off-season period.
