Albanians, concerned about the dangers of the internet/ In focus, child safety. Meanwhile, 6% fear replacement by AI

The Internet has become one of the most indispensable tools of daily life, facilitating communication, work and access to various services. However, alongside its many benefits, it also carries real risks, which constitute a source of concern for a significant portion of citizens.
According to Balkan Barometer data, cybercrime is ranked among the main concerns for Albanians. Specifically, 39% of respondents expressed concern about the theft of personal data, credit card information and other forms of online fraud. Data theft by hackers is considered a global problem, from which Albania has not escaped.
Meanwhile, the biggest concern is related to the safety and well-being of children online. The survey shows that 50% of respondents perceive this as a very significant risk, a percentage that is on par with the regional average and the same as in Montenegro.
Another source of insecurity remains online payments, which are seen as a problem by 21% of respondents. Also, 13% of citizens believe that the lack of digital skills to use technology poses a risk, as it can lead to errors, fraud or exposure to various threats.
The list of the newest concerns also includes the replacement of human resources by artificial intelligence. This phenomenon is perceived as a risk by 6% of respondents, positioning itself close to the regional average.
However, not all citizens see the internet as a dangerous environment. In Albania, 30% of respondents declare that they are not concerned by possible online incidents, considering internet use as relatively safe.
