Albania below Europe and the Region/ Inflation reaches 2.3% in August according to EUROSTAT measurements

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices, which measures price increases according to the methodology of the 'European Statistical Agency', in August 2025 is recorded at 2.3%. On the other hand, inflation according to 'INSTAT' for the same period is fixed at 2.3%. We emphasize that the measurement methodology is the same with both methods, but the differences between these two measurements come as a result of the weight given to each group of products in the calculation of inflation.
Official data shows that the average inflation in Europe is estimated at 2.4% and Albania is seen positioned above this limit for the month of August, which means that currently prices in our country are lower than the European average. Meanwhile, on the other hand, the countries with the highest price rate in Europe throughout August of this year are Romania with 8.5%, Estonia with 6.2%, Serbia with 4.9% and Montenegro with 4.7%.
If we analyze price increases by countries in the region, the figures show that Albania is positioned relatively well compared to some of its neighbors in the region, including North Macedonia and Kosovo, which recorded a price increase rate of 4.4% and 4.5% for the month of August.
Meanwhile, if we talk about the annual change of groups, we see that the largest price increase of 9.9% is observed in the group "Entertainment and culture", followed by the groups "Hotels, cafes and restaurants" with 3.6%, "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco" with 3.3%, "Furniture, household equipment and maintenance" with 2.7%, "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" with 1.7%, "Miscellaneous goods and services" with 1.6%, "Communication" with 1.1%, "Health" and "Educational services" with 1.0% each, "Rent, water, fuel and energy" with 0.6%, "Clothing and footwear" with 0.4%. On the other hand, prices in the group "Transport" decreased by 0.7%.
