Rama in the European Parliament: Olivier Röpke, a 'silent superhero' of Europe

The head of government, Edi Rama, delivered a speech at the European Parliament in honor of the end of the mandate of the president of the European Economic and Social Committee, Olivier Röpke.
"I felt like joining with mixed feelings, as this meeting marks the end of Olivier Röpke's presidency at the head of the European Economic and Social Committee. This is a moment to celebrate the work of an extraordinary man. As a silent European superhero, your dedication has inspired your leadership at the head of the Economic and Social Committee," said Rama.
He stressed that, at the moment Röpke took office, the entire continent was in a difficult period.
“When you took office, Europe was in what can be described as a storm. People forget what he wrote, like the war in Ukraine, the pandemic, the economic issues that countries are suffering, including Albania. It seems like the Stone Age, because I had black hair. We cannot forget that at that time we had not opened any set of chapters. And yet, through this turmoil and instability, you brought peace, including to skeptics like me. Isn't that proof that miracles happen?” Rama said.
