Albanians, more money in investment funds/ AFSA: Low-risk ones are preferred. The number of members increased by 9.6% in 2025
Albanians are diversifying the ways they invest their money. Not only investing in deposits now, but also in government securities through investment funds is becoming quite attractive for citizens.
Statistics show that the net asset value of funds and the number of members who have invested in investment funds have increased in the first half of this year. This market continues to be dominated by investments in government bonds.
The number of members who invested in investment funds in the first half of this year 2025 is 41,418, an increase of 9.6% compared to last year.
Investments in this market were mainly dominated by those in government securities (treasury bills and bonds), which constitute 83.84%, while 5.79% are investments in international financial markets.
So, the majority of investors are focused on funds that take on low risk and are funds that invest mainly in Albanian state bonds and bonds, while there are fewer investors in funds that invest in foreign stocks.
According to the latest data from the Financial Supervisory Authority, government bonds account for 67% of the funds' assets, followed by treasury bills with 16.7%.
The net asset value of the funds reached about 69.1 billion lek in the period January-June 2025, with an increase of 7.7 billion lek or 12.6% more compared to the end of last year.
Currently, 18 investment funds operate in Albania, which are managed by 6 companies.
