Tourism sector, at the peak of investments/ Lending to hotels and restaurants sets a record
In June 2025, new loans granted to private non-financial corporations were estimated at 25.9 billion lekë, with an annual increase of 16.4%, compared to the same period a year earlier.
The sector that continues to hold the highest share in financing through loans remains “Wholesale and retail trade; Repair of vehicles”, with a total amount of 10.85 billion lek, with an increase of 44.7% in annual terms. This sector represents over 42% of the total loans granted for the month, indicating a strong orientation of financing in this direction.
In second place is “Processing Industry” with 3.4 billion lekë, a 161% increase compared to May-June last year. It is followed by “Construction”, which recorded a significant decrease of 48%, falling from 5.5 billion lekë to only 2.8 billion lekë.
Among the sectors with the highest growth this month, “Water supply, waste treatment and management activities” stands out. “Arts, entertainment and recreation”, “Agriculture, forestry, fishing” and “Administrative and support services” also recorded significant increases.
Meanwhile, “Accommodation and food services”, which includes hospitality and tourism structures, has marked a historic record with 1.3 billion lek new loans, an increase of 42% compared to the same period last year. This is the highest level ever recorded for this sector in a single month, reflecting the tourism industry’s intensive preparations for the summer season and a growing confidence in new investments. The value of June this year is the highest if we analyze the same month in a decade.
Traditionally less funded sectors, such as “Education” and “Professional, scientific and technical activities”.
