How many foreigners visited Albania in July? 7.1% more, led by those from Southern Europe
The month of July remains one of the most dynamic periods for the movement of citizens, as it coincides with the peak of the summer tourist season. Data published by INSTAT show that July of this year has continued with a positive trend, with an increase in entries into the Albanian territory by both foreign citizens and Albanian citizens.
During the month of July 2026, there were approximately 2.8 million entries into the territory of the Republic of Albania. Compared to July of last year, the number of entries has increased by 6.1%, indicating that movement flows continue to be high during the summer season months.
If the figures are analyzed in more detail, the majority of entries are made by foreign citizens. Specifically, during July, around 1.9 million foreign citizens entered Albania, with an increase of 7.1% compared to the same month in 2025. Meanwhile, entries by Albanian citizens were around 871 thousand, marking an increase of 4.1%.
Outflows also continued to increase during July. According to INSTAT, around 2.6 million Albanian and foreign citizens left the territory of the Republic of Albania, a figure that represents an increase of 3.3% compared to July of the previous year. Of these exits, around 790 thousand were Albanian citizens, with an increase of 0.9%, while around 1.8 million were foreign citizens, marking an increase of 4.3%.
The flows of foreign nationals entering Albania continue to be dominated by European countries. Southern Europe contributed about 64% of the entries, while Central and Eastern Europe accounted for about 13%.
The positive trend is also observed when the data is extended to the seven months of the year. In this period, there were about 12 million entries into the territory of Albania, of which about 7 million are foreign citizens. In the same period, a total of about 11.7 million exits from the Albanian territory were recorded, where about 6.8 million of them belong to foreign citizens.
In addition to the number of entries, INSTAT data also shows the reasons for foreign citizens' travel. In July 2026, about 99% of foreign citizens' entries into Albanian territory were for personal purposes.
This indicator has marked an increase of 7.3% compared to July 2025, reflecting the high weight that personal trips, including tourist and visits, continue to have in inbound flows to Albania. In contrast, the inbound flows of foreign citizens for business and professional purposes have marked a decrease. According to the data, these inbound flows have decreased by 8.9% compared to July of last year.
