Unemployment in Albania drops to 8.3% by the end of 2025/ Women and young people continue to have the highest levels

In the fourth quarter of 2025, the labor force participation rate for the population aged 15-64 was recorded at 75.9%.
On the other hand, the unemployment rate in Albania for the population aged 15 and over reached 8.3% in the fourth quarter of 2025, reflecting a relatively stable situation in the labor market. The data show that, despite a slight increase compared to the previous quarter, the unemployment rate remains lower than a year ago.
Compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, unemployment has decreased by 0.5 percentage points. Meanwhile, compared to the third quarter of 2025, this indicator has increased by about 0.2 percentage points, showing a small fluctuation at the end of the year.
According to data published by INSTAT, the unemployment rate remains significantly higher among young people aged 15–29, compared to the 30–64 age group, where the indicator is lower and more stable. This gap continues to be one of the main challenges of the labor market in the country but is also related to the fact that during this age group young people study and need time to integrate into the labor market.
Changes are also observed by gender. The data show that the unemployment rate is slightly higher among women, while the level is somewhat lower among men. In the last quarter of 2025, unemployment for women is around 9.4%, while for men it is around 7.4%.
Overall, the labor market in Albania during 2025 has shown a slight trend of improvement on an annual basis, although quarterly fluctuations indicate that employment dynamics remain influenced by seasonal and economic factors.
