During July of this year, Albanian exports have again recorded a positive performance, reaching the value of 35 billion lek, with an increase of 5.7% compared to July of last year and a decrease of 0.5% compared to June of the same year. The increase came as a result of the increase in exports, mainly supported by the groups “Minerals, fuels and electricity”, which contributed positively with 5.7 percentage points to the increase, as well as by food exports. On the other hand, the groups “Construction materials and metals” and “Chemical and plastic products” have had a negative impact, which have recorded a decrease of 8.0 percentage points and 1.3 percentage points, respectively.
In the first seven months of the year, exports of goods reached a value of 239 billion lek, with an annual increase of 2.6%. As for imports, during July they reached 83 billion lek, decreasing by 2.4% compared to the same period a year earlier and by 9.1% compared to June 2025. This decrease in imports was mainly influenced by the groups “Construction materials and metals”, with a negative contribution of -2.0 percentage points, and “Machinery, equipment and spare parts”, with -1.7 percentage points.
The trade deficit for these seven months has reached a total of 76 billion lek, marking a decrease of 5.8% compared to the same period in 2024. However, the deficit remains high in value, which shows that Albania continues to be a country that imports much more than it exports.
Regarding the breakdown by country, Kosovo continues to be the country with the strongest export growth, with an increase of 72.5%, followed by Greece and Germany, with 14.8% and 0.6% respectively. Meanwhile, exports with Italy, North Macedonia and Turkey have contracted. In terms of imports, the countries with which Albania has had the largest decrease are Italy, Germany and Kosovo, while the countries with which imports have recorded the largest increase are China, Greece and Turkey.
