Entrepreneurship dynamics, Albania challenges the EU trend/ We are among the countries with an increase in the number of businesses in 2025
In a new economic outlook for 2025, the latest data published by Eurostat shed light on developments in the business sector in the European Union and the Western Balkans region. According to the statistics of this institution, in the first quarter of 2025 there was a slight decrease of 0.9% in the number of business bankruptcy declarations in the EU, compared to the fourth quarter of 2024.
On the other hand, in the same period, a more significant decline was seen in the number of new business registrations in EU countries, with 5.1% less compared to the end of 2024.
Despite this, Albania has experienced a positive dynamic. New business registrations in the country have increased by 6.1%, but compared to the same period of the year, growth has slowed.
According to the "Scan Intel" analysis, Montenegro has a decrease of 1.2% while Macedonia has the largest decrease in the region with 12.3%.
At the continental level, the country that results in the largest decrease is the Netherlands with 38.4% fewer registered businesses. While the countries that have experienced the largest increase are: Ukraine, Cyprus, Lithuania and in fourth place Albania.
