Albania is experiencing a significant increase in the number of tourists in recent years, not only during the summer season, but also in the winter. This positive trend is observed in the latest statistics published by INSTAT for February 2025.
According to data, during the second month of the year, a total of about 1 million Albanian and foreign citizens entered Albania, marking an increase of 7.9%, compared to February 2024. However, compared to January of this year, the number of entries has decreased by 8.5%.
When broken down by nationality, it turns out that 51% of the arrivals were Albanian citizens and 49% were foreigners. Of these people, around 543 thousand were Albanians, a figure that reflects an increase of 8.5% compared to February last year.
Another important aspect is the exit of foreign citizens from Albania, which marked an increase of 5.5% in February 2025, reaching 543 thousand people.
Regarding the origin of tourists, 96% of foreign national arrivals in Albania during February 2025 came from the European region. Southern Europe accounts for 83% of arrivals from the European continent, followed by Western Europe with 6%.
During the first two months of the year, the number of foreign bedbugs entering the territory of Albania was recorded at almost 1 million.
A significant increase has also been observed in the number of tourists from Africa and Asia. In the period January-February 2025, the number of African tourists increased by 119%. Similarly, the number of foreigners from South Asia increased by 194%, while from East Asia by 42.6%.
Regarding the purpose of the visit, 97% of cases are for personal reasons, dominated by holidays and visits to relatives.
