32 million euros in debts to businesses and citizens are repaid - Investment obligations are "discharged", the burden of court decisions is reduced
The year 2024 ended with a significant decrease in central and local government debts to businesses and citizens.
The stock of arrears reached a total of 7.3 billion lek or about 73 million euros in December 2024, recording a decrease of 3.2 billion lek or 32 million euros compared to September 2024.
Official data from the Ministry of Finance also show that the stock of liabilities is even lower compared to December 2023, by about 0.5 billion lek.
Of the total debt remaining until December 2024, the central government accounts for 2.7 billion lek and the local government for approximately 3.3 billion lek. What is noticeable is that the central government has significantly reduced the stock by 4.3 billion lek in the last 3 months of the year, while the local government has repaid only 0.3 billion lek compared to September 2024.
As for the category of arrears, the largest share is occupied by those for public investments, given that throughout this year there have been a large number of construction sites opened to provide better services to citizens.
Specifically, investment obligations reach a value of around 2 billion lek, but what is noticeable is that this item also had the largest repayment for this period, with nearly 3 billion lek repaid in just 3 months.
On the other hand, the stock of liabilities for court decisions for unfair dismissals or business complaints reaches 1.3 billion lek and has decreased compared to September by about 1.1 billion lek. The "other" category accounts for about 1.3 billion lek of total liabilities.
