Fires burn livestock and 747 beehives - Ministry of Agriculture reports damages

The National Veterinary and Plant Protection Authority has set up working groups to monitor farms and report on the health status of livestock in the areas affected by the fires in the municipalities of Delvinë, Finiq and Gramsh. According to a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture, from the first data from the field, it is found that in the villages of Tremul and Aliko (Aliko Administrative Unit, Finiq Municipality) damage has been caused to pastures and olive plots, but there are no losses in livestock. Farmers have been instructed on the steps they should follow in case of danger.

In the Dhivër Administrative Unit (Finiq Municipality), pastures and olive groves were damaged. Farms that were at risk from a lack of food for livestock were evacuated to safe pasture areas, away from the fire sources.

In the village of Sirakat (Mesopotam Administrative Unit), the burning of a stable with 4 dead calves was observed, as well as the burning of two beehives, with 140 and 57 hives, respectively.

Meanwhile, in the municipality of Delvinë, the situation appears to be aggravated. Working groups continue monitoring on the ground, but it is initially suspected that a farm with 25 small animals and 9 bee parks, with a total of 500 hives, was burned.

In the villages of Skënderbegas, Arunas, Shëmbërdhenjë, Bletës and Kullollas, 9 heads of cattle, 95 heads of sheep and 50 beehives were found burned.

The Ministry of Agriculture announces that working groups are on the ground to fully assess the damage and assist farmers. The dead animals are being buried. So far, 39 small animals and cattle have been buried according to veterinary protocols.

The National Veterinary and Plant Protection Authority calls on farmers to cooperate closely with state authorities to protect their lives and animal health.
