Albanian voters from Greece/ DHL responds to the CEC: Every envelope delivery has proof of delivery!
DHL, the postal company that distributed the ballots for voters registered abroad, has responded to the State Election Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi regarding his request for information on the process of distributing electoral documentation in Greece. According to the company, each shipment has proof of delivery.
"Of all the verification requests, only 5 cases in total across all countries including Greece are being followed up for verification. Every delivery has proof of delivery. 4'779 deliveries were picked up by couriers at home on return. 18'489 deliveries were delivered by voters at DHL service points and 25'920 deliveries were delivered to local DHL partner points," says DHL.
Further, DHL's response states that "the shipments were processed in accordance with standard procedures which include Direct Signature (signature of the recipient) upon delivery.
"Local partners are part of the network with which DHL Greece cooperates (ExclusiveTrusted Partners) who follow and fully comply with the procedures set by DHL, including the process of election deliveries in Albania ," the letter states.
According to DHL, "all recipients of the shipments without exception have been sent an SMS or e-mail."
"Notifications have been made since the creation of the AWB (tracking number) in Tirana and continuously on a repeated basis, including the location of the shipment at service points when the shipment was not possible to deliver or had an incorrect address. This is the standard that has been made in every country, including Greece ," DHL's response reads.
DHL's letter comes amid the debate raised by the Democratic Party's request to the Central Election Commission that boxes with ballot envelopes coming from Greece be treated separately and not mixed with other votes.
