Von der Leyen: Albania on the right path towards the EU, record pace with negotiations

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is in Tirana as part of the first "European Union-Western Balkans" Investment Forum that will take place on October 13-14, during which she assessed today that "Albania is on the right path towards the EU."
The EC President praised the record pace of Albania's negotiations towards EU membership in the last three years.
"I am pleased to start my annual tour of the Western Balkans in Tirana. Albania is on the right path towards the EU, at record pace over the last three years," she said.
Von der Leyen expressed her readiness to support Albania every step of the way. Von der Leyen was received today in separate meetings by President Bajram Begaj and Prime Minister Edi Rama.
She will address the first European Union-Western Balkans Investment Forum, which brings together senior government representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia in Tirana, as well as decision-makers, international financial institutions, strategic investors and leading companies from the EU and beyond.
The "European Union-Western Balkans" Investment Forum, an initiative supported by the European Commission, aims to strengthen economic cooperation and foster new investment opportunities between the Western Balkan countries and the European Union.
