European Union countries continue to remain the main source of direct investment in Albania, contributing almost half of foreign capital in the first six months of 2025 according to the "Bank of Albania". Published data show that Italy and the Netherlands top the list of European investors, while inflows from other countries, such as Germany, Austria and France, show slight fluctuations compared to last year.

European Union countries have invested around 334 million euros, which accounts for around 44% of total direct investments in Albania in the first half of 2025.

According to official data on direct investment (FDI) flows in Albania, the total for the period January-June 2025 reached 759.53 million euros. Of this amount, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria and Germany result as the main European investors, significantly dominating other EU countries.

Italy maintains its position as the largest investor from the European Union, with 89.13 million euros. The Netherlands follows with 85.04 million euros, confirming its role as an intermediary center for foreign capital entering Albania. Austria holds third place with 67.69 million euros, while Germany ranks fourth with 51.48 million euros. France, Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus and Slovenia make up the rest of the European investments with smaller amounts, ranging from 2 to 10 million euros each.

These investments are mainly oriented towards strategic sectors and strengthen economic relations between Albania and the member states of the European Union. Analysts underline that this positive trend shows the confidence of European investors in the economic stability and growth potential of the country.
