Turkish investments "flood" in Albania - BoA: 50 million euros in the first quarter of 2025. The Dutch are stepping down from the "throne"
Not only with the historical past, culture or cinematography, but Turkey is also closely linked to Albania in terms of investments. According to data from the Bank of Albania, at a value of 50 million euros, investments from Turkey dominated in the first quarter of 2025.
Turkish investors appear to have dethroned the Dutch, who have invested 49 million euros in Albania.
Official figures show that 13.8% of foreign direct investments come from Turkey, about 13.5% from the Netherlands, 12.7% of investments are from Italy, 8.6% from Austria, 7.7% are from Germany, 7% are investments from Kosovo, 3% from the United States of America, while in 19% of investments the country of origin is not indicated for confidentiality reasons.
In most of the largest investor countries in Albania, there was a decline in investment flows in the first three months of 2025. Thus, although Turkey currently dominates, there was a decrease of 5.6% compared to the end of 2024. Investments from the Netherlands decreased by 15%, while those from Italy, which is the third largest investor in Albania with 46 million euros of investments, resulted in a decrease of 11%.
However, investments from the United Arab Emirates, Greece and Serbia have not changed compared to the previous quarter, while only investments from Cyprus, Germany, Norway, Panama and Slovenia have increased. Specifically, German investments increased by almost 22% in the first quarter.
On the other hand, investments from the United States of America were recorded at the lowest levels since 2022.
