Knowledge Farm and Apple Agrotourism in Korça - ADF opens tender for 236 million lek. Center for agriculture, education and tourism
With a limited fund of over 236 million lek, the Albanian Development Fund has opened the tender for the first phase of the project “Knowledge and Agritourism Farm of Apples, Korça”. The initiative comes within the framework of support for the establishment of integrated rural development poles, in cooperation with local self-government units and other local and central actors.
According to the tender documents, the project aims to establish a modern apple production and promotion farm, which will serve as a multifunctional center for agriculture, education, tourism and the local economy. Conceived as a “knowledge farm”, it will be built near the village of Qatrom, just 5.4 kilometers from the city of Korça, in an area with fertile soil, gentle topography and suitable water sources. Currently, the area is undeveloped and inaccessible with modern road infrastructure, so the project also foresees interventions in this direction.
The farm is intended as an open space, where for farmers, it will be a meeting point and exchange for new agricultural techniques; for consumers, a source of fresh and quality produce from certified local sources, while for visitors, a tourist destination combined with educational and recreational experiences.
Through this initiative, the aim is to put an underutilized territory into efficiency and create a reference point for the development of agritourism and new forms of rural entrepreneurship.
In the long term, the goal is for the "Apple Farm" to become a local brand, where public, private and research actors combine to create a collaboration model that strengthens the rural economy, fosters innovation and promotes open access to knowledge and services.
