Profits from tiktok and facebook? - Taxes launch investigation into 100 individuals. They earned 33 million euros undeclared
Individuals who earn income through various online platforms have a legal obligation to declare every cent to tax authorities.
The Tax Administration's Investigation Directorate has launched an investigation into 100 individuals/entities for income earned from social platforms such as Facebook; TikTok; YouTube; Instagram; Google; PayPal, where preliminary verifications suspect around 33 million euros of undeclared income.
Regardless of the period when this income was generated, it is not determined, on average, it appears that an individual or entity has secured approximately 330 thousand euros through these platforms, for which no income tax was paid.
The Tax Administration announced on March 29, through social networks, that individuals and entities should fulfill their legal obligations through self-declaration in DIVA 2024.
The General Directorate of Taxation appeals to taxpayers who have not yet reacted to fulfill this obligation as soon as possible, to avoid penalties and other measures that an in-depth investigation may bring.
Within the framework of the general strategy 2024-2028, the tax administration has undertaken in-depth investigations in several sectors with the aim of increasing declared income, collecting tax on it and avoiding tax evasion.
Tracking tax fraud and tax control focused on taxpayers, risks and economic sectors that have generated significant losses to the state budget are key elements of the strategy being implemented.
