Vengu: Municipalities are the front line in emergencies, we are improving the

Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, inspected the Civil Emergency Support Base today, where he announced the improvement of the fleet of intervention vehicles for immediate response in any situation, as well as the launch of the production of more modern vehicles by the state-owned company for the production of military vehicles, in August.

Vengu emphasized that the main goal is to empower municipalities, so that they are the first front of intervention, while after exhausting their capacities, Civil Emergency forces will come to their aid.

He also announced that two more regional intervention directorates will soon be established to improve coordination and management on the ground.

"We aim to strengthen the municipalities as the first front, as well as the regional centers that will be established in Finiq and Bushat, so that the Armed Forces and 'BMEC' will be the last responder, in case of exhaustion of capacities. This better division of tasks and responsibilities will increase the efficiency of interventions ," the minister said.

The Minister stressed that it will be a difficult season, as meteorological analyses indicate, so he requested that readiness be maximized. He added that the fleet of vehicles will be expanded and specialized for specific circumstances, not only for interventions in urban areas.

"Therefore, the expertise of civil emergency teams in the municipality is required, in order to generate capacities and specialize in various natural disasters," he said. According to him, the production of more modern and sophisticated vehicles by the state-owned company is expected to begin within August.
