Tirana-Durrës train, 80% of the works are closed - The start of the construction of 10 new operational stations is expected in 2026
While a number of railway projects are under development, the Tirana-Durres line and the new branch towards Rinas airport will be the first to be completed and start operating.
According to the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, the works on this line have reached the volume of 80%, while soon the works will start for the construction of 10 new stations that will extend to the entire part of this line.
Meanwhile, a few days ago, Deputy Minister Enkelejda Muçaj, while reporting to the Parliamentary Committee on Production Activities, announced that this railway line will be operational in 2026.
The benefits from the operation of the Tirana - Durrës railway line are expected to be large. According to a previous estimate, net cumulative benefits for a 30-year period are estimated at around 270 million euros, deducting the investment costs.
This taking into consideration the income that will be provided by the operation of the railway, as well as the costs that are avoided in terms of health, time saved, the environment, carbon dioxide emissions or vehicle operation costs.
