Construction record, 5-fold income from local taxes - Municipalities earn an additional 80 million euros this year, the plan is exceeded
In 10 months, the local government has collected 27.4 billion ALL or 278 million euros from local taxes alone, excluding the property tax.
Detailed data from the Ministry of Finance show that compared to the same period a year ago, nearly 81 million euros more were paid, marking an increase of 41.2 percent.
Also, in relation to the planning made for the same period, the income has exceeded by 16 million euros.
If we analyze in a 10-year period, the revenues mark a record level, with an increase of about 4.5 times more compared to 2014, where the revenues from these taxes were recorded at 63 million euros.
Given that the main contribution to local tax revenues is the infrastructure impact tax, directly related to the permits granted for new constructions, it is an indicator of the positive performance of the construction sector over the years, being reconfirmed as one of the sectors the main factor leading the country's economic growth.
Regarding this year's data, Tirana Municipality had the main weight, which from this tax results in an increase in income by about 130%, directly influenced by the increase in the average reference prices of building surfaces, which gives effect to the revenue value for the infrastructure impact tax.
Another impact on this performance in the 61 municipalities in the country was the increase in revenues from cleaning/waste management fees by about 34%.
From a general assessment of the Ministry of Finance, it results that in the majority of municipalities, the implementation of fiscal good administration practices and mainly the implementation of standard austerity measures have a significant impact on their positive performance.
At the municipal level, out of the country's 61 municipalities, for this year, 53 municipalities have increased their own income, reducing the number of municipalities with a decrease to 8 municipalities, from the 22 municipalities that were a year ago.
